Kids Chocolate Balls
These delightful, no-bake chocolate treats are a fun and easy kitchen project that kids will love to help roll and decorate.
Ingredients
- •2 cups plain digestive biscuits or graham crackers (200g)
- •1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (115g)
- •1/3 cup powdered sugar (40g)
- •3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (25g)
- •1/4 cup milk (60ml)
- •1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- •1/2 cup sprinkles, desiccated coconut, or crushed nuts for coating (60g)
Instructions
- 1
Place the digestive biscuits into a large ziplock bag and use a rolling pin to crush them into fine crumbs.
- 2
Transfer the crushed biscuits into a large mixing bowl and add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, stirring until well combined.
- 3
Pour in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract, then mix everything together with a spoon or your hands until a sticky dough forms.
- 4
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes so the mixture is easier to handle.
- 5
Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture and roll them between your palms into smooth, bite-sized balls.
- 6
Roll each ball in your choice of sprinkles, coconut, or crushed nuts until fully coated.
- 7
Place the finished chocolate balls on a lined tray and refrigerate for at least another 30 minutes before serving.
💡 Chef tips
- If the mixture feels too dry and crumbly, add an extra splash of milk one teaspoon at a time; if it is too sticky, add a few more crushed biscuits.
- You can prepare the dough a day ahead and store it covered in the fridge until you are ready to roll the balls with the kids.
- Store the chocolate balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week, or freeze them for up to a month.
✅ How it should turn out
The finished chocolate balls should be firm yet fudgy, evenly coated with colorful toppings, and rich with a sweet cocoa flavor.
