Classic Chocolate Milkshake
Treat yourself to a rich, velvety chocolate milkshake that is thick, frosty, and topped with fluffy whipped cream.
Ingredients
- •4 cups vanilla or chocolate ice cream (600g)
- •1 cup whole milk (240ml)
- •1/2 cup chocolate syrup (120ml)
- •2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (15g)
- •Whipped cream, for topping
- •2 tablespoons chocolate sprinkles or chocolate shavings, for garnish
Instructions
- 1
Place 4 tall glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes to chill before making the milkshakes.
- 2
Combine the ice cream, whole milk, chocolate syrup, and cocoa powder in a blender.
- 3
Blend on high speed for 30 to 45 seconds until completely smooth and creamy.
- 4
Check the consistency: add a splash more milk for a thinner shake, or add another scoop of ice cream if you prefer it thicker.
- 5
Pour the thick milkshake evenly into the chilled glasses.
- 6
Top each glass with a generous swirl of whipped cream and garnish with chocolate sprinkles or shavings before serving immediately with a straw.
💡 Chef tips
- For a pareve (dairy-free) version, use non-dairy chocolate ice cream and oat milk or almond milk.
- Adding cocoa powder alongside chocolate syrup deepens the chocolate flavor without making the shake overly sweet.
- Chilling the glasses beforehand prevents the ice cream from melting too quickly as you pour.
✅ How it should turn out
The finished milkshake is frostily cold, decadent, and intensely chocolaty with a silky smooth, pourable texture.
