Rescued Congo Basin weather records reveal doubling of hot days
Newly digitized historical weather records from the Congo Basin, dating back to the 1960s, reveal a significant warming trend over the past two decades. Researchers from Vrije Universiteit Brussel uncovered this data from archives in both the DRC and Belgium. The findings show that unusually hot days have become nearly twice as common in the region, highlighting an accelerated climate impact that was previously obscured by sparse modern observation networks.
