Mixing Plant Material With Manure May Key Biogas Profitability
The U.S. dairy industry is a major contributor to agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, with manure storage being a significant source of methane. Anaerobic digestion of cow manure has been widely studied as a strategy to mitigate emissions while producing renewable energy. Recent research suggests that mixing plant materials with manure could be the key to making biogas production economically viable. This co-digestion process enhances methane yield and improves overall efficiency for dairy operations.
