Cows Deliver Healthy Calves Without Key Embryonic Protein
For decades, scientists believed that the protein interferon tau (IFNT) was absolutely essential for cattle pregnancies. It was thought to act as the primary signal from the early embryo to the mother to prevent the termination of pregnancy. However, new findings challenge this long-held biological dogma. Research demonstrates that cows can successfully carry pregnancies and deliver healthy calves even in the absence of this critical embryonic protein.
