Could grass become the clothes of the future?
Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology have successfully produced dissolving pulp from grass and clover residues. Traditionally, making textile fibers from wood requires extracting cellulose from tough structures, but grass offers a potentially easier and greener alternative. Working with international collaborators, the research team spun this grass-derived pulp into functional fibers and even knitted a small fabric sample. This breakthrough opens up exciting new possibilities for transforming common agricultural waste into valuable, sustainable textile materials.
