Rare David Bowie Self-Portrait With Handprints Heads to Sotheby's
A rare 1996 self-portrait by musician and artist David Bowie is heading to auction at Sotheby's. The artwork, created on paper, uniquely features two of the icon's actual handprints pressed onto the composition. Estimated to sell between £35,000 and £55,000, the painting is part of a limited series of eight self-portraits created during a prolific period in Bowie's painting career. It was previously gifted to his St. Ives gallerist and is now hitting the market for the first time.
