Zverev secures year-end number one ranking as Alcaraz loses
Alexander Zverev has officially secured the year-end world number one ranking for the 2026 tennis season. This milestone was confirmed following a surprising defeat suffered by his closest rival, Carlos Alcaraz, during competition in Shanghai. The development marks a significant achievement in Zverev's career, capping off a stellar and consistent season on the professional tennis tour. With Alcaraz unable to close the rankings gap after his unexpected exit, Zverev's top position remains unassailable as the tennis calendar winds down toward its conclusion.
