Separatist Party Wins Quebec Election, Testing Canadian Unity
Canada's Parti Québécois (PQ) is projected to form a minority government in Quebec's provincial election, returning to power for the first time since 2014. Led by Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, the separatist party has vowed to pursue a future independence referendum. The election results present a new political challenge for Prime Minister Mark Carney. While the PQ secured the most seats, they fell short of a majority and will need support from rival parties, which have already pushed back against the prospect of a referendum.
