Nord Stream trial: German police follow the evidence to Ukraine
After four years of a painstaking investigation, a former Ukrainian special forces soldier is set to stand trial in Hamburg, Germany. He is accused of leading the September 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines beneath the Baltic Sea. German prosecutors allege that the suspect commanded a crew of deep-sea divers using a rented yacht called the Andromeda to plant high-performance explosives. Both the accused and the Ukrainian government have consistently denied any involvement in the attacks.
