Ex-president Joseph Kabila named leader of new DR Congo rebel coalition
Former Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila has been announced as the leader of a new rebel coalition named the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN). The coalition aims to oust the current government by any means, including force, and includes prominent M23 rebel leaders. This development marks the clearest sign yet of Kabila's direct involvement in armed opposition, following his conviction in absentia for treason last year and his prior denials of links to the M23 group.
