Director Lu Po-Shun Talks 'Will You Still Be My Friend' at Busan
Taiwanese director Lu Po-Shun is bringing his acclaimed debut feature, "Will You Still Be My Friend," to the Busan International Film Festival following its premiere at San Sebastián. The coming-of-age drama blends adolescent friendship with local politics and solar energy development in Taiwan's Yunlin County. Originally developed from a short film during the pandemic, the feature has earned two Golden Horse nominations, including for adapted screenplay and new performer Jaden Wang. Director Lu utilized extensive local research to craft a nuanced narrative exploring how adult conflicts impact childhood bonds.
