Lost Iron Age cemetery reanalyzed decades after artifacts vanished
More than seventy years after its initial discovery, archaeologists have reanalyzed a 'lost' Iron Age cemetery originally uncovered in 1955 at a chalk quarry in Highsted, near Sittingbourne. The site, which initially came to light when a human skull tumbled down a quarry bank, yielded approximately 26 ancient burials. Recent research sheds new light on these long-lost finds.
