First minister rejects call to resign over Drumcree row
Northern Ireland's First Minister Michelle O'Neill has firmly rejected calls from the DUP to resign over her involvement in protests against a controversial Orange Order parade in Portadown. Unionist politicians accused her of lawlessness and contempt for the ministerial code after demonstrations blocked the march on Garvaghy Road. During exchanges in the Stormont assembly, O'Neill defended her actions, stating she was proud to stand with the local residents and describing the planned parade as sectarian and unwanted. She maintained that she would continue to support the community despite ongoing police investigations into the unlawful protests.
