Yemen children brave snipers and mortars to attend school in Taiz
In Taiz, Yemen, ten-year-old Rafeef and her peers navigate extreme dangers daily just to get to their classrooms. Located on a mountain edge overlooking a contested front line, their school sits exposed to sniper fire and mortar attacks amid the ongoing civil war. Despite Unicef reports highlighting millions of out-of-school children and severe casualties since 2014, students like Rafeef remain determined to learn. For these children, school offers a rare semblance of normalcy, friendship, and hope for a better future despite the intensifying conflict.
