Ava DuVernay's Doc '14th' to Feature New Song for Oscars
Director Ava DuVernay's upcoming documentary sequel "14th" is set to have its world premiere as the closing-night film of the New York Film Festival on Friday, October 9. Variety has exclusively learned that the film features an original song titled "Makings of Tomorrow," written and performed by Brittany Howard and Robert Glasper. Netflix plans to mount a comprehensive awards campaign for the documentary, submitting both the film for best documentary feature and the new track for Oscars consideration. The project serves as a thematic follow-up to DuVernay's acclaimed 2016 documentary "13th."
